End of week 5 or 3 depending on your point of view...
So I moved to St. Louis 5 weeks ago tomorrow. And I moved into my house 3 weeks ago today. I just finished my 5th week of work at Monsanto.
And I am fried… Oy.
So, I’m on hold with Charter because I got a bill 2 weeks after I moved in and OF COURSE they screwed it up. Thank you Mr. Skype (although their (charter’s) call center software is screwed up so they redirected my call to the FREAKING MEXICAN OPERATIONS.
I’m better now. Really.
Yeah, so I forgot I had this...
I feel almost bad, but the whole 7 of you who have read this I’m sure aren’t missing me that much (or you are and just giving me the silent treatment).
A quick update:
1) Got divorced
2) Moved 1800 miles
3) Got a new job
4) Got a new car
5) Messed up my knee about 2 months ago and still am limping.
6) Have gone on a number of horribly unsuccessful dates. Plan A failed (for those of you in the ‘know’).. if you’re not, sorry, just ask and I’ll tell you all about it.
7) Just got cable.
8) Moved into an historic house in a cool neighborhood - have a lavender bedroom.
9) Am planning the next tatoo.
10) Still love lists.
11) Still don’t have a dining room table. I’ll get one in a few weeks. Probably.
how far we've come in such a short time.
No 2 months ago I got slapped around (figuratively) by some political types for calling the US/Iraq situation as the “invasion and occupation of Iraq”. Yesterday, the same people used the same language and they all sat around the table nodding, smiling and looking proud of themselves.
And these were the democrats.
President Barack Obama
Speaking as a resident of Arizona, I am proud that the rest of the country didn’t let us decide by ourselves.
Speaking as someone who knows that leadership has less to do with military strength and more to do with moral leadership, I am even more proud.
Speaking also as the son of a father born in East Africa and as a son of a mother born in the midwest, I am even more proud.
I am so proud of my country.
Tomorrow
Yes, we’re all talking about tomorrow, but for me, it is more about the West Wing episode, “Tomorrow”. If all goes according to plan, I’ll make my way through the final season of the West Wing just in time to watch the first results (not polls - but the actual results) come in.

Tomorrow
In 24 hours, let’s all raise a glass to getting our executive branch back and lets wake up from this horrible nightmare of the last 8 years.
Tomorrow
Let’s help our families, our neighbors, our communities and our country
Tomorrow
Let’s get our country back on track.

I am the Lord your God...
So, I have to say that even though I took a number of religious studies classes in college and have a large variety of friends of different faiths, I couldn’t remember the entirety of the 10 commandments. Enter the interwebs (esp. wikipedia).
All I could remember right off the top of my head going into this was the first part, “I am the Lord your God” and a couple of other bits about what you should and should not covet and honor.
Tangent - yes, this is how my brain works early on a saturday morning.
My big shiney bit of interesting “oh wow” is the massive differences in the different religions and traditions about which commandment is which. Check out the table on the wikipedia page linked above. It mostly makes sense (given the history and various incarnations the documentations have gone through) - except for the preface bit for the Anglicans.
I also wonder how Kevin Smith would write the dialog:
“Dude, this sucks” (smashes the first copies)
“Yo, man, have another set” (God hands Moses another copy which he puts in the Ark of the Covenant and gives George Lucas an idea for a movie).
(insert narrative about if the guys who built the Ark were union or not).
Epic Fail T-Shirts...
I was sorting through my clothes trying to figure out what to donate when I discovered that I owned almost no shirts with logos, funnies or anything other than a solid color. Nothing from thinkgeek, nothing from a vendor or a conference.
I guess I EPIC FAIL at being a geek. So sad.
